Notes from the Chef

Thursday – “Chopped Steak Burger” – House ground beef mixed with chopped steak tips, crispy leeks, pancetta, spicy roasted garlic aioli.
Friday – “Asian Pesto Shrimp Cavatappi” – Wasabi green tea pesto, Napa cabbage, cashew crumble, portobello mushroom, pickled red onion, tempura fried shrimp.
Friday – “Pork Osso Bucco” – Tender braised pork shanks, black bean cassoulet, mustard greens, berry mostarda
Saturday – “Hamburger Gravy” – A Wes Stevens Household Classic – House ground meat, garlic, onion, peas and carrots all cooked together and made into a country gravy.  Served over roasted garlic mashed potatoes with a grilled baguette.
Sunday – “Creole Polenta Fries” – Savory cornmeal cooked down and thickened with cheese and southern spices then cut into strips and deep fried.  Served with spicy pancetta aioli.

Having sailed Lake Michigan for over 25 years, Judy and Bill Stellin, at ages 65 and 64, following retirement, set off in their 42ft sailboat JAYWALKER,  for a year-long self-supported “cruise” on the Mediterranean.  Eight years later, bookended by two trans-Atlantic passages, they came home with a story to share!  Learn about their adventures sailing a big-rigged, high-performance sloop through the far reaches of ocean and seas and into ports bristling with navigational and even political hazards as retirees with a budget but no itinerary.

Personal information:   Bill is a  retiree from Comerica Bank Private Banking Investment Division.  Judy retired from Forest Hills School district.  Three children, two married with 5 grandchildren.  Lives in Cascade Mi  (suburb of Grand Rapids).  Still races and cruises Jaywalker,(J/42).

This FREE event will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the MYC Spinnaker Room on a first come, first seating basis!
