Muskegon Junior Sailing Association (MJSA)

While the Muskegon Yacht Club operates and provides facilites for the Junior Sailing Program, these efforts are possible only with the generous support of the Muskegon Junior Sailing Association (MJSA), which is a separate non-profit 501-C3 organization that promotes youth sailing in the Muskegon community.

Under the guidance of its own Board of Directors, the MJSA purchases or accepts donations of boats, trailers and equipment and then leases these assets to the Muskegon Yacht Club for use in the Junior Sailing Program. The MJSA relies upon donations and fund raising to continuously maintain and update its inventory of boats, trailers and equipment.

This cooperative venture between MYC and the MJSA is a typical model used to support Youth Sailing Programs throughout the United States. Similar to any youth sailing program that maintains a non-profit status, the Muskegon Junior Sailing Program is open to the general public.

Recognizing that program fees collected from the sailors only cover operational expenses, volunteerism and fund raising are critical to keeping these programs afloat. Please consider making a donation and/or getting involved with the program. Major fundraising projects are typically done in the off season. Volunteers are needed in the summer months to assist with program logistics. Tax deductible donations can be made via cash or check payable to the Muskegon Junior Sailing Association.
